We'll go through from the modifications that make the most difference per dollar in lap times.
-
STX is a very competitive and popular class for FRS and BRZ. There's no reason an above average driver cannot do well if the car is prepped propertly
-
Next step, we'll go through some of the things that are allowed in STX and some things that arent.

Wheels and Tires
-
FR layout cars are allowed any wheels up to 9.0 inches width and any offset that will fit.
-
Wheels and tires are the top modification you can make to your stock setup to improve lap times. There are some considerations when deciding on what wheels and tires to go with.
-
Lets start with the wheels.
-
-
-
When choosing wheels for competition, there's a few things to consider. Diameter, width, height, offset and last but not least price.
-
Diameter - I've always been a fan of not being wasteful. Bigger wheels, brakes, tires etc.. that what you need for your setup is a waste. If you're being wasteful, you'll be paying with slower times.
-
The lighter the wheels, the better. You get better acceleration, better braking and your suspension works better with lighter wheels. Smaller wheels tend to be lighter, and has less gyroscopic effect. This is the spinning weight on the outside of the wheel. The farther out the weight, the most energy to get it going, and the more energy to stop it.

-
Tires - Unlike sometimes in road racing, autocross courses usually favor larger tires, especially in a car with enough power to push them like the FR-S/BRZ.
